Apple Vs. Android

Interface
Apple - Although Ipone's interface is merely rows of icons, it is simple and allows you to get to apps quickly. The simplicity of the interface makes the Iphone easy to use and also the ideal type of device for someone new to smart phones. iOS 5 also features a notification center.
          Score: 7/10
Android -Android's interface isn't as easy to use as Apples, however,  it features a fully customizable set of screens and a notification bar that allows you to easily check notifications and toggle settings. The display also allows the option of putting apps as icons, or as small, medium or large sized widgets. The widgets allow you to use fully animated apps in the interface without even opening them up.
          Score 9.5/10
Display
Apple - The Iphone 4S's screen size is only 3.5 inches, but it's LCD screen is actually a higher resolution than many of the Androids. The display is therefore crisper and brighter than the majority of Android phones.
          Score 8.5/10
Android - Android may not have a plethora of phones with crisper and brighter screens than the Iphone 4s, but the majority of Android phones have much larger screens, better contrast, and amazingly vibrant color. This makes playing games, watching movies, and even watching the animated widgets look that much better. In addition to this, there are phones such as a Samsung Galaxy Nexus with HD display (1280 x 720 pixels)
          Score 8.5/10
Keyboard
Apple - Anyone who has used an Iphone or Ipod touch keyboard knows how truly amazing it is. Even though it has a very small screen, once the keyboard get's used to the common phrases you say, it learns. For example: If you often type the phrase: "Hey what's up" the Iphone will start to type that anytime your fingers move into the direction of the "h" "e" "y" and so fourth.  Often times, my fingers aren't even in the close proximity of the letters and the iPhone still types it based on tendency. In addition to this, although there are some words it might auto-correct, if you change the auto-corrected word to the actually word you want, it learns fairly quickly. Basically, the more you use the keyboard, the more amazing it becomes.
          Score 9.5/10
Android -  Android phones keyboards are different depending on the android you get. Some come with both display and physical keyboards while some just come with just the display. The major advantage to Android is you can download third party keyboards from the market, including the popular Swype. This allows you to choose from hundreds of different keyboards until you find one your like.
          Score 8/10
Data Speeds
Apple - The Iphone 4s's new duel-antenna system has the potential to reach 14 Mbps, however, the Iphone 4s averages speeds of 2.2 Mbps and has a high of 5.5 Mbps.
          Score 7.5/10
Android - Any 4g Android phone you can find has faster speeds than the Iphone four, including the Galaxy SII which reaches on average over 12.5 Mbps.
          Score 9/10
Camera
Apple - Fast 1080 P video. Flash, HDR, some editing features.
         Score 9/10
Android - Slightly slower, less crisp, double flash, HDR, burst shot mod, panorama mode,  tons of effects, tons of editing features.
         Score 9/10
Apps
Apple - Over 350,000 thousand apps, games with good graphics. Infinity blade..etc. Apps come to Iphone first before going to andoird.
     Score 10/10
Android - Around 300,000 apps. Games not as high graphic. Angry birds is free.
     Score 8.5/10

Overall
     Apple 51.5/60
     Android 52.5/60

Driling leases.

The Obama administration has proposed a five year plan to sell offshore drilling leases. Over the next five years 15 lease sales will be sold in  six different areas (shown below). Many people have had a very negative view on this, especially considering the 4.9 million barrel spill that happened last year in the Gulf of Mexico. A lot of environmentalists frown upon the fact that an oil spill in these areas could be ravaging to the polar bear population. I tend to lead towards Obama's side on this one. Our economy is in urgent need of Jobs, and I don't think the risks are that substantial.

The five year plan will cover these areas.

  • Western Gulf of Mexico: sales beginning spring 2013.
  • Central Gulf of Mexico: Five sales starting the spring of 2013.
  • Eastern Gulf of Mexico: Two sales, including one in 2014 one in 2016
  • Beaufort Sea: One sale 2015.
  • Chukchi Sea: One sale 2016.
  • Cook Inlet: One sale 2013

Water Boarding

Republican candidate Rick Santourm has openly permitted what he calls enhanced interrogation, and many have classified as torture. One thing to think about, when making a decision about enhanced interrogation, is how far the "torturing" actually goes. From all that I have read, screaming, threats, lies, and discomfort have been the only real "torture" that the victim undergoes. The furthest they seem to go through this enhanced interrogation is water boarding. Water boarding is a simulation of drowning where the victim is tied up to a table and strapped down with their head facing downward. The victims head is then covered with a cloth while water is proceeded to be dumped upon him. Although I would never agree to have prisoners of war scared for life, or be caused any kind of discomfort, is water boarding truly evil? One must look at the action, intention and circumstance of the act. Any given action can be good, neutral, or evil. This being said, any action can also have a good or evil intention and or circumstance. If any of the action, intention or circumstance is intrinsically evil, than the whole action is evil. I.e if the action is good, but the intention is evil the action is therefore evil or vice versa. Let's taking water boarding as an example. The action is purposely water boarding someone I would put the action of water boarding in the neutral category. This is because there are circumstances where it could be either good or evil i.e someone voluntarily agreeing to be water boarded for experimental or learning purposes. This being said, let's go onto to the circumstance and the intention of the action refereed to by the candidate Rick Santourm. The circumstance is as follows: A terrorist is killing hundreds of thousands of people. A war victim and member of this terrorists group knows where the leader is and is not cooperating.  After being interrogated, (threatened, screamed at, asked questions.) The enhanced interrogation group decides to water board the victim, stopping the simulation as soon as the victim admits to answering their questions. The intention would be to save the hundreds of thousands of people being killed. The action as it stands right now is neutral. The intention is good. One must look at the circumstance to decided whether the action is good or bad. It's a very fine line. I could easily debate anyone taking either side. Let's use another example of torture. Same circumstance and intention expect the action is purposely cutting off one's fingers in a non surgical manner. I would classify this action as evil no matter what the circumstances. So no matter what the intention and circumstance. It is still evil. Back to water boarding. I would say that if thousands of lives were upon the line, and the only thing standing in the way between you getting information and hundreds of thousands of people dieing was causing a war victim, of whom would get his head blown off by a machine gun if he was back in war, was causing discomfort to the war victim, than it might be permissible. Another thing to remember is that a lot of these war victims give their lives.. water boarding someone would probably not work to get information you would have to use much greater means. If the water boarding in fact did not work, I would be  against any further torture equal to or greater than water boarding. As for Rick Santourm, this is a man who respects and upholds the sanctity of human life. His views on this might be influenced by past experiences and, as one can see, it is not the type of thing that is clearly either black or white (right or wrong.) I would not hold this against Santourm and still think that he is a just candidate.

Mitt Romney

Mitt Romney leads the polls with a first place victory in both Iowa and New Hampshire. He is a candidate that most supporters say can beat Obama, but are his policies that much different than the policies we already have? Romney care, which bankrupted the state of Massachusetts, is what influenced Obama-care in the first place. Romney care, however, would be a major improvement to Obama care if Romney were to get elected. In the comparison (above) is a list of reasons of how much more realistic Romney care is compared to Obama care. (parts of the chart are exaggerated.)  Disregarding whether Romney care would actually work or not, Romney is very fluctuate in correlation to most everything he says.He may be pro-life in one instant, and pro choice in another depending on the majority beliefs of his audience. With candidates like Romney, you never know what they "truly" believe or what they are going to do in office. It is common among the Republicans to promise tax cuts in order to influence voters. Romney is using that method with his moral beliefs. How would one know that everything Romney is promising is a lie? One doesn't. That's a main reason I think Romney would be very dangerous if he were to be elected. However, although it is more evident with Romney, many great presidents have used these false promises to get elected. I am very indecisive as to whether Romney would make a good president.

Ron Paul

Ron Paul finished second in New Hampshire with a perplexing 20+ percent of the vote. One must start to wonder what is in the minds of voters who vote for Paul and why seventy percent of U.S. troops are behind him. The only perceptible option is that he appears to be a libertarian. In theory, there is nothing overly dangerous about libertarianism in the right type of economic crisis, however, what libertarian voters, of whom are voting for Ron Paul, do not realize, is that Paul is not a libertarian. Ron Paul is technically a authoritarian, but he is portrayed as a logical conservative and a libertarian, of which apparently make him very likeable. Ron Paul is trying to put together  libertarianism along with both social and political conservationism, and they just do not add up. Putting all of his views behind, what if Paul was a libertarian? Does this help are current economic crises? Cutting taxes would surely not help in our current situation, when we are already billions of dollars in debt. Of course, he would also be cutting the spending costs down by over a trillion dollars. Stopping all the wars is not necessarily bad, but it puts too much pressure on the president. I think Ron Paul would spend way too much time trying to stop other wars, and of course ending the prohibition of marijuana. Of course, his views on the federal government have never been done before, so no one can know exactly how they will work. Something like abolishing the federal government seems very crazy to me since I don't know how it would work. There is a chance that I could be wrong about Ron Paul and he could turn out to be a great president and prove me wrong.

Tim Tebow

I have been rooting for the Broncos all along. But can they really make it any further? They won just enough games to get them into the wild card than went on a loosing streak. They did, however, come off the losing streak and win the game that mattered, with Tim Tebow throwing 316 yards total and 31.6 yards per throw in the game against the Steelers. (John 3:16) of which is Tim Tebows favorite verse. In addition to this, a "halo" like figure (above) was formed above the stadium by what looks like a cloud, with no other clouds in sight. I'm not the one to say that this is a "divine" type of signal from God. However, it is possible that an omnipotent being could work through natural phenomena They go on to face the Patriots on Saturday. You can expect a comeback of thirty points in the fourth quarter and touchdown pass win in overtime.

Repblican Primaries

Iowa: 1st: Mitt Romney 2nd Rick Santorum 3rd Ron Paul.

Mitt Romney was the evident front runner for Iowa, having ran in 2008 and already established support of much of the Republicans.  He also had the money and the influence to get votes. Rick Santorum, however, a man who did not have the money nor the influence. A man who flies coach instead of first class. A man with no endorsements or even media recognition places second in Iowa only eight votes behind Romney. Rick Santourm proves that old fashion door knocking and charisma can go a long way. Lastly, Ron Paul. I am not against constitutionalists but Ron Paul in particular, I don't know why people vote for Ron Paul in the first place. I would call his success a fluke of the media. On to Rick Perry. He would be a decent president expect for the fact he cannot talk in public to save his life. I think he is out of this election after this showing of spending millions of dollars advertising, and coming out nearly last.

Perry Spent 4.5 million dollars! On Iowa alone. He got around 12,440 votes of the 120,000. Rick Perry spent around 365 dollars per vote.

Romney spent a fourth of what Perry did, (1.47m) and came out with more than twice the votes 29,847. This means he spent only $50 dollars a vote.

The big winner, however, is Santourm. Who didn't spend millions but 20,000 dollars in Iowa, and came out with 29,841 votes. This means he spent less than 75 cents a vote.

New Hampshire: 1st Mitt Romney 2nd Ron Paul 3rd. Jon Huntsman

Mitt Romney won new Hampshire which was fairly self evident. I didn't except Santourm to get even get a double percent in New Hampshire but somehow he got over ten percent. Again with Ron Paul? The racist pot head? Jon Huntsman was someone I expected to place within the top three in one or two primaries but never really get any further. And Rick Perry... Spending millions and millions of dollars and receiving less than one percent of the vote. I do not understand why he hasn't dropped out.

South Carolina:
Gingrich win's South Carolina with Romney in second and Santourm in third. Now Santourm and Gingrich both having a win over Romney. Gingrich has the debating skills to beat Obama and is probably smarter than Romney and Santorum put together. However, as evident by his support crew leaving him, he is a very selfish person and cares only about himself.
